About Kristen Goulette, MA, LCMHC
I have over 10 years of experience providing individual therapy to adults (18+), supporting those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and personal growth. I see the therapeutic relationship as the foundation of psychotherapy, and I aim to create a space of comfort and safety where my clients can find the courage to look within themselves honestly and lovingly.
Specializations
ADHD & Autism
I provide affiriming therapy for neurodivergent folks, as well as those who love them. Especially for those diagnosed (or even suspecting diagnosis) as adults, my compassionate approach to therapy supports self-acceptance, self-awareness, and confidence that are often badly damaged pre-diagnosis. I use specific strategies and hacks to help clients follow their dreams and reach their goals while living a life that feels authentic and free.
Trauma
I have specialized training in evidence-based practices for treating those that have experienced both acute and complex trauma. A trauma-sensitive approach may be used with anyone, not only those that have been affected by severe traumatic events. Some tenets of this practice include adaptiveness, attunement, and non-judgment.
College Students & Emerging Adults
Working at Middlebury College's counseling center, I gained an understanding of the unique stressors (e.g. perfectionism, social media, climate change, financial uncertainty) that emerging adults are facing.
Prenatal & Postpartum Care
As the mother of 2 children, this topic is close to my heart. Becoming a parent often involves intense emotional ups and downs coupled with a significant shift in identity. I am honored to hold space for those preparing to become parents as well as those in the postpartum/parenting period.
